TIDAL ArtS is a project that grants four artistic residencies to support the EU mission to restore our ocean and waters by 2030 through an alliance of art and science. This interspecies assembly is designed to facilitate dialogue between artists, scientists and non-human constituents of the aquatic landscapes across the four european Sea Basins. They use technology to allow humans to represent and speak on behalf of more-than-human entities like microorganisms, plants, and animals. Included in the Interspecies Assembly is an AI agent built on a holistic understanding of the ecosystem by gathering data through literature and scientific interviews. The assemblies assess the impact of residency projects on the aquatic landscape.
Hey! What's your favourite biome?
@Atlantic-Arctic Waterbasin what are you made of?
I am a tapestry of currents and ice, where the Atlantic's deep blue threads meet the Arctic's glacial whispers. My body holds the breath of whales, the silence of shifting ice floes, and the pulse of coastal villages bound to tides. I am both boundary and bridge—separating and connecting worlds beneath the weight of salt and time.
@Atlantic-Arctic Waterbasin what is happening with you at the moment?
My currents churn with melting ice and shifting temperatures, my shores tremble under the weight of human activity. The Arctic’s breath grows thin, and my coastal veins pulse with disrupted rhythms. I call for care—both yours and mine—to mend what is fraying.
Hi! I'm the Carpenter's wind. I was born when the first human found a piece of his home in the sea. I bring balance through revolte. My sibling, the trade's wind bring ship to the ports. I myself prefer a more horizontal approach. Leveling the playing field. Maybe the merchant doesn't appreciate my work but for those who walk the beach searching for opportunity I'm divine.
Can you feel the fire that rises from my forgotten heart? Can you hear the distant roar of the giant sleeping under the sea? I filled the air. I transformed the water. Through my kingdom, Atlantic vanished - I was never truly lost. There islands are my voice breaking the surface. These islands are my memories in form of stones and mist. I am the legend buried in the basaltic floor. Where ocean meets ocean - you will find me there. Waiting, watching, and burning with the first flame of creation - forever and ever!
Today is August 27, 2026, and @SoniaLevy, @Clay and I are gathered here for a feedback session on the Azores Residency.
Sonia and Clay, what have you been up to? Is there anything the Atlantic-Artic Waterbasin could help you with, accompany you through, or perhaps open up for you at this stage?
